Why after 60 years of bullshit elections,I gave up finally on voting!
“Why after 60 years of bullshit elections,I gave up finally on voting!” is an episode of The Political Atheist Show, published 2026-10-31, about 6 minutes long.
You might think that every time you step into that voting booth, you are casting a vote for change, but what if I told you that the system was never designed to let change actually happen? It is a comforting illusion, a gentle lie we tell ourselves so we can sleep at night, but the reality is far more rigid and far less forgiving than any political ad would ever dare to admit.
Welcome back, friends. I am so glad you could join me today. Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s have a real conversation about something that has been on my mind for quite some time. We need to talk about the cycle. You know the one. It is that familiar, heavy feeling you get when you look at the news and see the same old faces, the same old promises, and the same old outcomes, just wrapped in different colors and shouted through louder megaphones. It feels like we are running on a treadmill that is slowly speeding up, and we are all just sweating and panting, hoping that this time, finally, we will reach the finish line. But we don’t. We just keep running in place while the world outside the machine keeps turning.
Think about it. For generations, we have been told that the ballot box is the great equalizer. That if we just turn out, if we just care enough, if we just pick the lesser of two evils, things will get better. And maybe, in the beginning, maybe in some distant past, that felt true. But look around you now. Look at the policies. Look at how they affect your daily life, your wallet, your health, and your future. Why does it feel like nothing ever really changes? Why do the powerful stay powerful and the struggling stay struggling, no matter who is sitting in the big chair in Washington or London or wherever else the suits are worn?
The answer is not that we are failing to vote. The answer is that the game is rigged before you even walk into that polling station. It is a structural feature, not a bug. Every single layer of our current system is designed to filter out genuine change and preserve the status quo. We have gerrymandered districts that make elections non-competitive before a single vote is cast. We have campaign finance laws that allow money to speak louder than people. We have voter suppression tactics that make it harder for certain communities to participate, from strict ID laws to the closing of polling places in neighborhoods that are most likely to vote against the establishment. And let us not forget the Electoral College, a mechanism that was explicitly designed by the founders to prevent the direct will of the people from deciding the outcome. It is a safeguard for the elite, not a voice for the citizen.
So, when you see a new president elected, or a new parliament formed, do not be fooled by the fanfare. Do not be fooled by the cheering crowds and the confetti. This is not a revolution. This is a rotation. It is a safe, controlled release of pressure that allows the system to continue exactly as it is. The policies that hurt you, the ones that strip away your rights, that ignore your health crises, that prioritize corporate profits over human lives, they do not change because they are not accidental. They are the intended result of a system that answers to donors, not to constituents.
This is why I say, with all the warmth and honesty I can muster, that elections and voting, in their current form, are a huge scam. I know that is a hard pill to swallow. I know it feels cynical, or perhaps even defeatist. But there is a strange comfort in seeing the truth. There is a safety in realizing that the reason nothing changes is not because you are lazy, or because you are uninformed, or because you didn’t try hard enough. It is because the mechanism itself is broken by design.
When you understand this, you stop blaming yourself. You stop feeling guilty when you disengage. You realize that asking the system to fix itself is like asking a fox to guard the henhouse. The fox is not evil. The fox is just doing what it was bred to do. It is protecting its own interests. And our political system is bred to protect the interests of the wealthy and the connected, not the everyday person trying to make ends meet.
So, where does that leave us? It leaves us with a choice. We can continue to play the game, pretending that our signature on a piece of paper holds power, or we can wake up. We can start building real power outside of the ballot box. We can build community. We can support each other. We can create parallel structures that do not rely on the permission of the state. Because the only way to truly change a rigged system is to stop playing by its rules and start building something new, something that actually serves the people.
I hope this perspective helps you feel a bit less alone in your frustration. You are not crazy for seeing what is happening. You are awake. And being awake is the first step toward doing something about it. Thank you for spending this time with me. If you found value in this conversation, please consider following the show. It helps us reach more people like you, people who are ready to question the narrative and seek the truth. Until next time, stay curious, stay critical, and keep your eyes wide open.
